Tom Peters had a post a couple of days ago – “1Q10” that I thought I would share. He urges us ALL to do a quarterly review. He calls it a “1Q10 Results Report”. This is great stuff.I am going through a leadership/life coaching thing through work. One of the takeaways for the group was around goal setting.
TP presents a great way to keep us accountable. I love that he recommends a written review. He lists the questions that need to be answered. He also leaves room to goal plan for Q2.
I thought I would share some of my own findings. I track goals across a bunch of categories to create balance.
Financial: doing very well. After the troubles of ’09, we are operating to budget. We aren’t saving as much as we like but have taken steps to correct. (Automatically taking money out)
Physical: Not doing as well here. My daughter broke her leg and that has really put a cramp in our efforts. Spring has sprung so I am hopeful that we will correct our course here.
Personal Development: 100% on track.
Family: 100% on track.
Spiritual: Not meditating. Grrr. I want to be doing this daily and I am hardly doing it all.
Career: 3 months into the new group. I have added value. I have received compliments from peers and management. I am engaged.
Social: Grrr.
No new resolutions for this year. No new goals.
Network development plans: yeah. This is where I am falling down. I want to start a mastermind/greenlight group. Hoping that I can work through this with my coach.
Lifelong Learning projects launched or completed: curse you TP! I need to think about this.
Key steps for first weeks of Q2: remain open to coaching.
Overall grade: B-. There were things I missed.
